New Haven County is comprised of separate shoreline and inland towns.
If you go North on Route 8 when you are in Bridgeport, you will pass through Derby, Ansonia, Seymour, Naugatuck and Waterbury.
Driving north, from Fairfield county on I-95, you will cross the Housatonic River into Milford, then pass West Haven, which is next to New Haven.
If you continue going Northeast along the shoreline, you will pass East Haven, Branford, Guilford and Madison.
If you travel an inland route on the Merritt Parkway (Route 15), you would pass through Orange, Woodbridge, Bethany, Hamden, North Haven, Cheshire, Wallingford and North Branford.

View current traffic conditions on I-95. The I-95 interchange at I-91 is currently undergoing a 10-year reconstruction which will replace the Q-Bridge which spans New Haven harbor.
